ScottishPower

Well it looks like one the Big 6 is getting serious about building new renewables. Following their merger with Spanish wind giant Iberdrola, Scottish Power should now start delivering on some of the largescale wind projects they've been talking about these past few years.

Their 322MW Whitelee project will be Europe's largest wind farm when it's completed - that should be this year some time, although they said that this time last year. Added to that, they also have consent for the world's largest generating capacity wave farm... let's hope they get it built sooner rather than later.

Whilst Scottish Power are full steam ahead with their build programme, their tariffs are still living in the dark ages. Their Green Energy Fund is for dual fuel customers who forfeit their 'discount' of £10.50 a year with the money going into a community-based renewables fund instead. Unfortunately, despite the name, the Green Energy Fund tariff does not supply power from renewable sources.

They also do Green Energy H2O, which is supplied from 100% renewables, but it's still entirely from large-scale hydro built several decades ago. Come on guys, sort it out...

2007 New Build:
£13.7 million
