npower

npower moved up three places to third this year, having a busy year completing four seperate renewable projects - three onshore wind parks and one small hydro plant.

They do seem geniunely keen on developing more onshore and offshore wind with over 30 projects in the pipeline, including a new offshore wind project off the coast of north Wales.

npower do have the highest number of customers on a green tariff, and they claim to be the 'No.1 for renewable energy in UK homes'. Unfortunately, their parent company RWE are also the No.1 carbon dioxide emitter in European power production. Not a title they're keen on publicising on their leaflets.

Maybe that's the reason why their rather strange partnership with Greenpeace has finally hit the rocks, with the environmental group no longer supporting the tariff. In fact days later, Greenpeace activists occupied their Didcot power station in protest at the continued use of coal.
